Flowerbee Florist Singapore delves into the blossoming story of Far East Flora, one of Singapore’s most iconic flower companies.

Back in the swinging 1960s, before trendy floral arrangements were Instagram-worthy and minimalist-inspired, there was a little van trundling around Singapore. This unassuming van didn’t just sell eggs; it also peddled flowers. That’s right—the OG florist, Far East Flora, started as this charming mobile flower-and-egg combo.

Fast forward to 1965, when the founders formally established the company. But it wasn’t until 1976 that things really took root (pun intended). That year, Far East Orchid Pte Ltd sprouted into existence, focusing on wholesale fresh-cut flowers. They weren’t just any flowers; they were the lifeblood of Singapore’s floral scene.

Far East Orchid became the leading wholesale flower company in Singapore, supplying not only fresh-cut flowers but also foliage, preserved blooms, and all the floral accessories you could dream of. Their commitment to quality and variety set them apart.

Now, let’s talk about the second generation. In 1999, Ryan Chioh stepped into the picture. His father and uncle had laid the groundwork, but Ryan had a vision. At the height of the dotcom bubble, he proposed something radical: an online store.

His forward-thinking uncle—still the only founding member around—didn’t hesitate. They embraced e-commerce, and FarEastFlora.com was born. Suddenly, their reach extended beyond Singapore’s shores. Today, they offer over 1,000 products that can be shipped to more than 140 countries worldwide.

But it’s not just about business. Ryan’s roots run deep. He remembers the days when he helped out with sales, deliveries, and housekeeping. From Indiana University to an American computer hardware company, he eventually returned to Singapore to nurture the family legacy.

And so, from that little van selling eggs and flowers, Far East Flora grew into an empire—one that continues to bloom beautifully.
